Advances in communication technologies allow for parallel advances in knowledge acquisition. Familiarization with varied, cutting-edge active learning techniques, such as timelining, helps students in their future professions and educational endeavors. Historically, timelines were paper documents with dates, descriptions, and pictures used to focus attention on specific ideas, experiences, and topics. An emerging timelining approach is web-based software that allows visual representation and graphic methods to be combined with time and text.
