Timed with the release of the 2015-2020 Dietary Guidelines for Americans,1 the US Department of Agriculture (USDA) Center for Nutrition Policy and Promotion launched the MyPlate, MyWins campaign to help American families and individuals identify personalized healthy eating solutions-or "wins"-consistent with the updated guidelines. As the Dietary Guidelines emphasize, it is the healthy eating pattern over time that has the biggest impact on health-not a single food, nutrient, or meal. Healthy eating patterns are not rigid plans, but rather ones that can be adapted to include foods people enjoy that meet their personal and cultural preferences and fit within their budget.
