Subject(s): Abstract: The objective of the study is to investigate the incidence of the selected microbes in the faculty, staff and students laboratory gown and the microbiology laboratory equipment before sterilization process, sterile/before experiment process and after the experiment. The researcher also differentiate the incidence of microbial exposure of faculty, staff and students based on the level of participation in the laboratory exercise, to investigate the effectiveness of antimicrobial cleaning agent and to suggest measures that can be adopted to minimize undesirable microbial exposure to the students, staff and faculty working in Tytana Microbiology Laboratory. The incidence of microbes that were identified in Tytana Microbiology Laboratory are S. aureus, E. coli and B. subtillis. The results show variations of percentage of occurrence depending on the process that were identified. Before sterilization results shows that faculty and staff laboratory gown is sterile while students gown were 100% positive from selected microbes. Laboratory equipment were also 100% no growth of microbes. Sterile/ Before the experiment result show 100% no microbial growths for the laboratory gowns and the equipments. After the experiment results show 100% positive in selected microbes. Incidence of microbial exposure was evident results shows that despite of the level of participation the laboratory gowns were positive from selected microbes. Effectiveness of antimicrobial cleaning agent were tested and results shows that 3.25% Sodium Hypochlorite with 5% Chlorine and Hydrocarbon with 60% Ethyl Alcohol are effective antimicrobial cleaning agent to the equipments used in Tytana Microbiology Laboratory. In conclusion, Tytana Microbiology Laboratory was positive in selected microbes and those were detected posed a risk to transmit diseases to the person staying or working inside the laboratory. Strict implementation of preventive guidelines and management should be followed.
