An abstract of a study by Camhi et al determine whether diet quality differs between MI-JO and MAO adolescents and adults. Women in the metabolically healthy obese (MHO) group (19-44 years of age) had significantly higher total Healthy Eating Index 2005 scores, whole fruit, whole grain and meat, and bean scores compared with their MAO counterparts. No significant differences were observed between MHO and MAO in men 19 to 44 years of age or adults 45 to 85 years of age. Results indicate that preventive interventions earlier in the life course on potentially modifiable factors that may contribute to the MHO phenotype are warranted.
