According to this study: * The risk of cardiovascular events increases immediately after moderate alcohol consumption. After 24 hours, a protective effect emerges, and the risks of myocardial infarction and hemorrhagic stroke diminish. * The risk of ischemic stroke remains high for a week after moderate drinking. High alcohol consumption confers no benefit.
