Subject(s): Summary: In our world of evidence based medicine, providers tend to look for the fancy, established, well studied approaches to make the lives of older adults the best they can be. Unfortunately, there is no single intervention that is best for everyone. I write this editorial to remind you to not forget the less well studied but qualitatively if not quantitatively established approaches that help so many older adults. The first is what is commonly referred to as human-animal interactions and the second is engagement in meaningful activity via volunteering.
