The Phillippines is signatory to the Millennium Development Goals (MDGs) to reduce child mortality and improve maternal health. However, recent statistics reveal that this commitment is far from full realization, necessitating a more aggressive campaign to meet the MDGs. This gave rise to the implementation of the Unang Yakap protocol that supports the adoption of the new Essential Intrapartum and Newborn Care (EINC) Guidelines. The Association of Deans of the Philippines Colleges of Nursing (ADPCN) Inc., in partnership with the United Nations Children's Emergency Fund (UNICEF), initiated the EINC protocol integration into the Bachelor of Science in Nursing (BSN) curriculum. This research evaluated the training programs on the integration of EINC and the subsequent implementation of the trainees in their respective nursing institutions.
