Many issues, concerns and challenges facing nursing will be addressed appropriately if there are available information on the present status of nursing schools in the country. Similar studies done in the past showed that: there was the need for intensive faculty development program due to rapid turnover of faculty members and the unusual big enrollment in many nursing schools (Yapchiongco, 1990); there was a continuous increase in the number of newly opened nursing schools adding 34 or 26.35% from the previous number of nursing schools; with only 46% of deans and 3.94% of nursing faculty members having master's degree in nursing (Laurente & Ortin, 1993)
