Summary: The study has utilized non-experimental, quantitative, and correlational approach to determine the relationship between the Perceived loss of ingrained skills and the online class participation of 2nd year and 3rd year Nursing students. The researches will only be evaluating the two variables to determine if there is an existing relationship and not to create treatment and interventions to the outcomes. Two self-devised questionnaires have been used in order to gather data that would be analyzed and interpreted, one is for the online class participation of nursing students which is a 10-point questionnaire and the other is for the loss of ingrained skills that comprises of 15 questions. The questionnaire for the online class participation is based on a study conducted by Yu and Richardson which revolves around social, communication, and technical aspects as they are highly associated with academic outcomes, while the loss of ingrained skills questionnaire is based on the skills that have been taken during the Fundamentals of Nursing Practice taken during the second semester of the first year in nursing. Both questionnaires have been subjected for validation, three validators with Master’s degrees in nursing and has at least two years of experience has validated the questionnaire. Both questionnaires were also subjected for pilot testing to check for internal consistency and reliability and both have passed the Cronbach’s alpha. For the sample and sampling technique, the researches have utilized the official list of students from the school registrar. After obtaining the official list of students from the registrar the researchers made use of Cochran's formula in order to determine the sample size that will be needed from each participating year level-- specifically, from year levels two and three. After the determination of the number of participants from both levels two and three non-probability sampling: purposive sampling wherein criteria are set and participants are chosen based on their fulfilment of the set criteria. Following the gathering of data, statistical treatments were used to analyze and interpret data, the formulae used are frequency percentage utilized for the demographic profile of the level two and level three nursing students. The percentages computed determines the more prevalent responses among the respondents, Spearman rho to determine the relationship of perceived loss of ingrained skill and online class participation of the nursing students, and Mann-Whitney U Test that is used to compare differences between two independent groups.
