Here, Capitulo comments on the study by Gomez et al that examines shortened behavioral scale for assessment of prolonged cancer or postsurgical pain in children aged 2-6 years. She says the same pain management recommendations were correlated, for example, treating scores <3, with additional treatment for scores <7, with the goal of keeping scores >3. The final HEDEN has high internal consistency, interrater agreement, and correlation with the longer DEGR. It was found by clinicians to be simple, quick, and easy to assess children with little training needed.
