All facilities that provide care for women during the preconception period, pregnancy, and the postpartum period should implement standardized tools with which to assess women's risk for venous thromboembolism (VTE). The use of such tools will lead consistent pharmacologic and non-pharmacologic interventions regardless of provider or location of care.
