Subject(s): Summary: Epinephrine is used to achieve return of spontaneous circulation (ROSC) during cardiac arrest, but it may negatively impact functional survival in patients who experience out-of-hospital cardiac arrest (OHCA). In a study, researchers investigated functional survival among 1,556 patients who experienced OHCA and achieved ROSC between January 2000 and August 2012. Of these patients, 1,134 (73%) received epinephrine and 194 of them (17%) had good outcomes.
